FIRST WINTER PROJECT - Jan 4 - Jan 7, 2014
UC Hastings students will be participating in a pro bono project through PILARC, in conjunction with California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA). The work will focus on hospitality workers. Participants will spend four days in the spring in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. The project will involve gathering survey responses from workers about wage theft issues, health and safety conditions in the workplace, discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, etc. With the data from the survey, students will help in the publishing of a report on local conditions for low-wage workers and will identify trends in the workplace to address through legal advocacy and other strategies.
